Tässä blogissa selvitetään kuvin ja sanoin, millaista puuhaa on rakentaa akustista kitaraa kotosalla. In this blog I'm telling with words and images how it's like to build an acoustic guitar (or a few) at home.

A new beginning
Here's a little something of my first ever custom order.
A friend of mine (a brave one) wants me to build him a guitar. It'll be a jumbo OM model with Lutz spruce top and most likely Koa back and sides.
It's going to be interesting, as this dear friend is one of the pickiest I know about his guitars...

Rosette&soundhole
The project's on it's way. I got a sinker redwood top and a rosewood/abalone rosette for it. To my eye, it looks pretty handsome! The tap tone is very deep.
Sinker redwood comes from the huge logs that sunk to the bottom of the river some 100 years ago and was rescued & surfaced in our times and sawn into nice, colorfull "sediment-flavoured" tops.
Soundwise redwood is supposed to be the best worlds of both spruce & western red cedar together. That remains to be heard...
